Paul Arter, Derek Boyle and Michael Mannix conduct a successful and close business as Costs Lawyers having worked together in chambers for a period of some 30 years in the City of London. Each member of the team operate their own independent business but also work in association under the umbrella name of AMS Costs.

Together they are considered to be one of the most experienced and formidable teams of experts operating in the field of legal costs with a wide and varied depth of experience, which is reflected in their client base comprising of global law firms, niche law firms, high street practices, accountants and insurers.

The Team

The team deal with all areas of costs litigation. We are regularly retained on high profile commercial cases and are also instructed on substantial personal injury and clinical negligence actions, construction, shipping, insolvency, defamation and intellectual property matters, professional indemnity litigation and VAT Appeals. We have been retained in actions outside the jurisdiction and have acted as independent experts in arbitration proceedings. The team are equally instructed to act on behalf of Claimants and Defendants by clients ranging from major law and accountancy firms to high street firms of solicitors. Instructions are also accepted from company and corporate entities.

All of the team regularly attend and conduct advocacy on Detailed Assessment hearings.
